Supernal Diaspora [Mage: The Awakening]
House Rules - Global Orders & Additional Merits
God Machine Awakening House Rules
This campaign pitch uses campaign modification from The Mage Chroniclers Guide. However, it was not always this way. The setting description above describes the sundering, which opened many new paths for awakening. Because they were the most only options prior to this even, the original five watchtowers still claim the majority of members. While there is not a global census on such matters, estimates from the Pentacle Orders and Free Council concludes that 60-75% of mages claim one of the five “original” watchtowers.
This campaign pitch will also use the Global Orders variation, with the addition that each order (including the seers of the throne) functions like conspiracies from Hunter: The Vigil, with benefits for maintaining a high rank within the order.
The Adamantine Arrow (○ to ○○○○○)
○ The Adamantine Order teaches self-defense tactics to all initiates. And all Arrows start by learning basic mundane maneuvers. The Arrow gains a bonus dot to one of the following merits: Fleet of Foot, Fast Reflexes, Quick Draw, Athletic Dodge, Brawling Dodge, Weaponry Dodge.
○○○ A member of this rank in the Adamantine Arrow has seen their share of battles and has proven themselves as an asset to the order; they are often field leaders, regional commanders, or training officers – equivalent to a military NCO. Arrows of this rank gain learn a powerful fighting technique which allows them to combine martial prowess with arcane might. Arrows of this rank learn the Combat Thaumaturgy maneuver.
Arrow members may spend one Willpower point and one mana point to activate this ability. This permits them to combine attack actions and casting, merging both into one fluid act. When taking an Athletics, Brawl, Firearms, or Weaponry action they may use instant spells reflexively to augment that action.
○○○○○ Members of the order at this rank are considered one of the prominent leaders, generals, and commanders of the Adamantine Arrow and as such have the much of the orders resources at their disposal. Many of the Arrow train together to function similar to a reserve military unit and sometime are called on to act in that capacity against a significant threat. A member of the order at this rank may request for just such back up. When the character invokes this request, the Storyteller may call for a Status (Adamantine Arrow) roll, with a penalty/bonus based on the preserved threat. Success indicates that the order member will receive backup swiftly – within 12 hours.
The Free Council (○ to ○○○○○)
○ The Free Council sees the merit of all modern convinces and their application to the magical spectrum. Initiates of the Free Council gain a free specialty in Crafts or Computers.
○○○ The Free Council, more than other orders, maintains ties to the mundane world. The Council sees the magic in the fallen world, from culture, symbols, and practices of sleepers all around them. And Council members are expected to maintain several circles of influence or social networks as part of their other duties. The member gains three dots of Resources, Contacts, or Status – or any combination of the three. At the Storytellers Discretion, these merits may instead be spent on specialty social merits (such as Bar Fly, Fixer, or Pusher).

The Guardians of the Veil (○ to ○○○○○)
○ The Guardians of the Veil are all about secrecy, and imitates are taught the basics of either magical secrecy or mundane secrecy. The Veil initiate gains a bonus dot of the Occultation merit or an additional instance of the Alternate Identity Merit.
○○○ Guardians take their duties of guiding the mortal occult circles very seriously. It is they who keep the truth, the veil, from falling into the hands of mortals without the wit or ability to understand the deeper mysteries of the fallen world. Thus experienced Guardians are often given the duty to monitor occult channels in order to facility the veil of secrecy. The Guardian gains 3 dots of allies, these dots may be taken as three one dot allies, or one three dot ally (or even added onto existing allies). These allies must be with circles which deal with the occult, a secret society, or other areas in which the Guardians deal with (at the Story Teller’s discretion).
○○○○○ Masters of the Veil are the masters of secrecy and intrigue. They alone are given access to the Greater Masque, which they gain at a four dot level upon reaching this level of trust from the other masters.
Greater Masque (○○ or ○○○○○)
A Guardian who is wearing a the token imbued with the properties of the Greater Masque. Is afforded an extra level of supernatural protection against the eyes of sleepers. To their eyes the guardian embodies their masque in a manner that goes beyond a simple disguise. Sleepers will not question the masque wearer’s identity, nor will they recognize them once the mask is removed. This power is the result of an exploit in Quiescence discovered by the order in its formative years after the fall, as such sleepwalkers and other beings immune to Quiescence are not fooled by this aspect of a Masque. (Thus the +2 to disguise rolls is still valuable).
At four dots all limitations are removed. The Masque token itself is specifically designed by masters of the order and imbued with the power to fool even awakened eyes. Supernatural beings must roll [Wits + Composure] penalized/improved by the difference between their power stat and the Guardian’s Gnosis. Failure causes the masque to affect them as though they were a sleeper.
The Mysterium (○ to ○○○○○)
○ Initiate members of the Mysterium train in all matters of the occult, but mentors tend to focus on specific areas, either their own fields of expertise or on what the apprentice finds interesting. Members of the Mysterium gain a free Occult specialty.
○○○ Members of the order at this rank are trusted members, and represent diligent underlings or rising stars. If the Mysterium doesn’t know about it, it likely doesn’t exist. Members of the order are not only usually excellent researchers, but when given access to a Mysterium library there is very little they can’t find out. When a member of the Mysterium of this rank has access to a Arcane Library controlled by the Mysterium they may add their Status (Mysterium) to the equipment bonus that a library would provide for research. This bonus represents the trust placed by the order in this member, allowing them access to restricted or obscure texts which might otherwise be off-limits.
○○○○○ Members of the order at this rank are considered one of the prominent leaders of the Mysterium and as such have the much of the orders resources at their disposal. The Mysterium is also known for collecting artifacts, and the order has quite the repository of Atlantian artifacts and imbued items from over the centuries. Once per story, a member of the order of this rank may requisition an Artifact or Imbued item of rank four or lower that can help them in their current story. They will have access to this item for the rest of the story, but are expected to give it back after their problems have been resolved.
Silver Ladder (○ to ○○○○○)
